The Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine wants to resume communication with the international airport “Mariupol” not later than 2020. Minister of Infrastructure Vladimir Omelyan announced this information in an interview with Delo.ua
At this point the ministry together with the military calculates safe areas for landing and take-off. Upon restoration of the airport, it also wants to join local businesses and help financially.
The airport of Mariupol was closed since June 19, 2014 after the start of hostilities in the Donbass. The airport was liberated in April 2016, however, for passengers it was not opened for safety reasons.
