Ukrainian architectural studio SHOVK created the concept of public space on the territory of the Richert plant

The architectural studio Shovk created the concept of public space on the territory of Richert plant on the Kirillovsky street at the Podilsky district of Kyiv.

Architects will propose a project to investors to save the building from destruction or demolition.

“The experience of many cities around the world shows that comfortable public spaces can revive economic and cultural activity in the city, improve microclimate and increase the value of urban land, and, consequently, bring profit. The Rikhert factory and the associated areas can become an attractive and comfortable public, recreational, cultural, commercial center for residents of nearby residential areas and future residents of residential complexes constructed in neighboring areas” — is written at the web site of the studio.

The brewery was built by merchant Mikhail Richter in 1892-95. The final appearance of the drying tower was acquired in 1908 by the architect Nikolai Kazansky. By 2006, malt extracts were produced here. Now the building and surrounding areas are in a desolate state, many inter-floor ceilings are collapsed.
